People who were at the scene when police arrived told officers there was an argument inside the business between Ruth and at least one other person. That argument escalated and shots were fired, and Ruth was struck, according to KCPD.

Detectives worked the scene looking for evidence and witnesses who were there.

No suspect is in custody, but police say “detectives are making some headway identifying” one.
