KCSO: Suspect rams into stopped deputy's vehicle

Oct. 8—A suspect "intentionally rammed" into the patrol car of a Kern County Sheriff's deputy who was stopped at the intersection of Merle Haggard and Airport drives Sunday morning, according to a KCSO news release.
The deputy, whose name was not released, suffered minor injuries and the driver, whose name also was not released, was arrested.
At about 1 a.m. KCSO was alerted by the McFarland Police Department of a vehicle pursuit involving its department that was heading toward Bakersfield. The driver hit the deputy who was stopped at the intersection on the way to a different call for service.
The California Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
