Keene SwampBats shutout by Upper Valley

Jun. 23—WHITE RIVER JUNCTION, Vt. — The Keene SwampBats lost to the Upper Valley Nighthawks, 10-0, Wednesday night at the Maxfield Sports Complex in White River Junction, Vt.

Parker Murphy got his first start of the summer for the SwampBats. After giving up a couple hits and runs in the first, Murphy fared well and completed three innings for the 'Bats, picking up three strikeouts in the process.

Garrett Rice finished the game off. Primarily a position player, Rice has now racked up five innings of work on the mound this season. He had three strikeouts Wednesday.

The SwampBats only mustered four hits, two coming from Jaden Brown. The SwampBats were shut out for the first time this summer and took their sixth loss of the season.

The 'Bats drop to 7-6, 5-2 at home, while the Nighthawks improve to 6-7. The SwampBats return to Alumni Field Thursday night to take on the Ocean State Waves at 6:30 p.m. for Mascot Night.
