Keep Columbus Beautiful receives 2023 Governor’s Circle Award

COLUMBUS, Ga. (WRBL) — A local non-profit focused on keeping the Chattahoochee Valley clean and green was recognized with an award.

Keep Columbus Beautiful received the “2023 Governor’s Circle Award” for its achievement in community beautification and environmental sustainability.

To qualify for this award, the chosen organization must be certified and in good standing with Keep America Beautiful — a national nonprofit overseeing both state and local programming.

The Keep Georgia Beautiful Foundation presented the award to Keep Columbus Beautiful Executive Director Lisa Thomas-Cutts to recognize outstanding performance with litter reduction, waste minimization, and community greening.

Executive Director of Keep Georgia Beautiful Natalie Johnston-Russell says the recipients of the award have put a lot of effort in towards keeping the environment healthy.

“We believe everyone deserves to live in a clean, green, and beautiful environment,” said Johnston-Russell. “The recipients of this award have made a tremendous effort to achieve that vision, and we’re thrilled to recognize their achievements.”

Johnston-Russell isn’t the only one who sees the merit in keeping our local environment litter-free.

Columbus Mayor Skip Henderson says he’s proud of Lisa Thomas-cutts and her team.

“The City of Columbus understands you cannot have a vibrant community if you don’t keep
the environment clean,” said Henderson. We are grateful to Keep Georgia Beautiful for recognizing the Keep Columbus Beautiful Commission’s hard work with the Governor’s Circle Award.”

Keep Columbus Beautiful has been an affiliate of Keep America Beautiful since 1988.
