Christian Group: Don’t Accept Mail With a Harvey Milk Stamp

“A drag queen was behind USPS Harvey Milk stamp,” declared the headline of a press release by the American Family Association this week. The fundamentalist Christian non-profit was exposing Nicole Murray Ramirez, the “self-described drag queen (a biological man with implanted breasts) as the monster behind the new stamps bearing the face of California’s first openly gay elected official. “Honoring predator Harvey Milk on a U.S. postage stamp is disturbing to say the least,” reads the press release. “Harvey Milk was a very disreputable man and used his charm and power to prey on young boys with emotional problems and drug addiction. He is the last person we should be featuring on a stamp.” So how can good, Christian Americans avoid supporting this Medal of Freedom winner? First, refuse to accept the Harvey Milk stamp if it is offered by the local post office. “Instead, ask for a stamp of the United States flag,” the AFA instructs. Then, “refuse to accept mail at your home or business if it is postmarked with the Harvey Milk stamp. Simply write ‘Return to Sender’ on the envelope and tell your postman you won’t accept it.”

Virginia State Senator is Huge Bashar al-Assad Fan

Republican Virginia State Senator Richard Black wrote a letter to Syrian President Bashar al-Assad commending him on his fight against “criminals linked to al-Qaeda” and his “heroic rescue of Christians.” Black confirmed to Buzzfeed that he did, in fact, write the letter and that it was not a joke, despite being dated April 1. “I’m not much of a prankster,” Black said. Of the inevitable backlash he might receive from sending such a flattering letter to a man accused of human rights abuses against his own citizens, Black said, “Anytime you take a stand there will be certainly people who disagree. But al-Qaeda killed 3,000 Americans on 9/11 and I’m deeply troubled that we are now assisting al-Qaeda in Syria. This is not the first time Black has publicly endorsed Assad. Among other controversial statements made in the past include Black’s assertion that spousal rape should not be a crime.

Teen Dad Opposes Sex Ed in Schools

Republican Texas State Board of Education candidate Eric Mahroum does not believe students should learn about contraception in school. Mahroum, who argues sex is something that should be talked about at home, became a father at age 16 and homeschools one of his two kids. He does believe, on the other hand, that the Ten Commandments should be displayed in schools. “I’m for that,” he said this week. “Realizing not every child is going to have a Christian background but our country as a whole, we stem from the Judeo Christian values.”

Maya Angelou: Just “Another Affirmative Action Mediocrity

Conservative writer John Derbyshire, formerly of the National Review doesn’t know what all the fuss over Maya Angelou is about. Sure, she was a beloved poet laureate, but she was black. And Derbyshire “always assume[s] that any black person in a well-paid position is an Affirmative Action hire.” In a post at the anti-immigration website VDARE, Derbyshire admits that he has never read any of Angelou’s work. In fact, he only first heard of her in 1993, “when she read one of her ‘poems’ at the Clinton inauguration.” He continues, “It was a quite sensationally bad poem. I remember being shocked by how bad it was. With the whole world watching, this is how the U.S.A. presents itself to the world? With this semi-literate gibberish?” Again, Derbyshire notes, he’s “never read her autobiographical bestseller I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings,” but “from what I can find out about it on the Internet it seems to be another exercise in white-hating sex-obsessed black solipsism.” He concludes, “another Affirmative Action mediocrity.”
