Most people are cheerful and in a giving mood during the holidays and don't mind donating or volunteering to nonprofits. But when the holidays are over local charities are still asked to help those in need of food, clothing, shelter and more.

Here are just a few of the many local nonprofits that the community can still lend a helping hand to beyond the holidays.

Good Shepherd Center

The Good Shepherd Center is collecting new toiletries to support its Day and Night Shelters. These toiletries are particularly the most needed ― deodorant, razors, and travel size shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and lotion.

New scarves, hats, gloves, sweatshirts, and hoodies in all sizes are needed for adults that the center served who are experiencing homelessness.

Monetary donation is always needed. Donations support Good Shepherd mission to feed, shelter, and most importantly to rehouse men, women, and children experiencing homelessness. Donate at: https://www.paypal.com/donate/?hosted_button_id=Q2C6H4F6KGFPW.

Donations can be dropped off between the hours of 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. Monday-Friday at 811 Martin St., Wilmington.
