Former Mount Union football coach Larry Kehres, left, watches Saturday morning as a purple tarp is removed from a sign on the university's football stadium, debuting it as Kehres Stadium. Kehres coached Mount Union for 27 seasons, from 1986-2012, and led the Purple Raiders to 11 national titles. A series of celebrations on Saturday at Mount Union also included dedication of the Dom and Karen Capers Football Coaching Center on campus. Capers, a veteran NFL coach, played safety and linebacker for the Purple Raiders from 1968 to 1971, and roomed with his fellow honoree, Kehres, during their college days. A $2 million gift from the Caperses helped the university construct the 5,600-square-foot building which houses coaches' offices along with team meeting and film viewing rooms.
