Keith Mayer: Amounts topped 2 inches many spots in Berks for 2-day rainfall

May 8—There were many rainfall totals over 2 inches in Berks County from the weather maker Friday and Saturday that also brought a chill and gusty winds.

Officially at Reading Regional Airport, 2.01 inches was recorded over the two days. That boosted the monthly precipitation total to 2.47 inches, 0.74 above normal, and the annual total to 16.34, 3.14 above normal.

Other totals included Gibraltar, 2.64 inches; Bernville, 2.57; Vinemont, 2.44; and Cornwall Terrace, 2.33.

Saturday's average temperature at the airport was 49 degrees, 13 below normal.

No records were set for rainfall or temperature.

The top wind gust Saturday at the airport was 36 mph.

Thinning clouds are expected and a shower cannot be ruled out Sunday, according to the forecast.

But AccuWeather is expecting sunny skies and a warming trend for the workweek from a high in the mid-60s on Monday to low 80s by Thursday.
