Keith Mayer: Car hits embankment in Berks, goes airborne and lands in Wendy's parking lot

Jan. 22—Exeter Township police say a car hit a curb, went airborne and landed in the parking lot of Wendy's, 5411 Perkiomen Ave.

Officers came upon the severely damaged car about 2:20 a.m. Friday. The driver, David Tomlinson, 23, Mount Penn, was taken to Reading Hospital, according to emergency radio traffic.

Police described the injuries as cuts to his head.

Officers described the crash as the westbound car hit the embankment at the Shelbourne jug handle and launched into the restaurant's parking lot.

The distance of the car's flight was not specified.

The investigation is continuing, police said.
