Court-appointed advocates

The Court Appointed Special Advocate program, or CASA, trains volunteers to work with abused and neglected children to determine what is in the best interest of keeping them safe and nurtured.

The group announced that four people recently were appointed to the program. The group makes up the 13th class of volunteers since CASA Berks County was founded in 2015. There have been a total of 54 appointments.

The newest four are Cindy Bannon, Steve Reinbrecht, Terri Baller and Lori Scargle.

Those interested in becoming a volunteer child advocate need to submit clearances, references and attend an eight-week training course. The next class begins on March 3.
