Singer Kelela is part of Ferragamo’s “New Renaisance” fashion campaign. The “LMK” singer is featured in the campaign alongside renowned models like the South-Sundanese model Anok Yai and the Danish-Somali model Mona Tougaard. The collection of editorial photographs was short by Tyler Mitchell, the first Black photographer to shoot a Vogue Cover. The campaign sees Kelela in a blonde buzz cut dressed in Ferragamo’s latest offerings. The collection, under the eyes of creative director Maximilian Davis, offers an array of pieces, including metallic dresses and feathery blood-red coats. The models in the photographs pose in front of a collection of 15th and 16th century paintings, blending the delicacy of the old with the new.

A Long-Awaited Comeback

Kelela made a triumphant comeback with the release of her latest album, “Raven.” The album received an 8.4 score on Pitchfork. The accompanying review calls Kelela’s music “hydration for the soul. Seductive and relatable even as she continues to refine and evolve her sound. While speaking with Rolling Stone about the project, the singer revealed that it required a kind of vulnerability that terrified her. Soon after releasing her project, she performed at Solange’s Eldorado Ballroom event in partnership with her creative company Saint Heron. While discussing the performance, Solange shared her awe for Kelela. “I saw her Fallon performance. Her vocals were literal perfection, so to hear her perform this album live is going to be such an amazing moment,” she told NY Mag.

Kelela has also appeared on the covers of Clash, Boy Brother Friend, and one of UK’s culture publications, Dazed. Her inclusion in the Ferragamo campaign is one out of the numerous comebacks she has made in 2023.
