Refugio graduate Jared Kelley closed his strong July with a five-inning, one-hit, eight strikeout appearance against Columbia to record his first professional win for Single-A Kannapolis on July 31.

The White Sox farmhand improved to 1-4 with a 3.14 earned-run average in 2022 and has notched 15 strikeouts over his last two starts, helping him earn Carolina League Pitcher of the Week Honors.

The 2020 second round draft pick went 0-7 in 2021 in his first professional season.

Banda designated for assignment

Sinton graduate Anthony Banda has seen his share of movement over his professional baseball career including major league stops with the Diamondbacks, Rays, Mets, Pirates and most recently Blue Jays. This week Toronto designated the left-handed pitcher for assignment, meaning he could be on the move again.

Banda went 0-1 with a 4.26 ERA this season in Toronto after being traded from the Pirates to the Blue Jays midseason.
