Kelly Clarkson to host the 2020 Billboard Music Awards for third time in a row

Kelly Clarkson is adding another role to her 2020 gig list: Billboard Music Awards host.

The singer and "Voice" coach, 37, is returning to the award show this year for the third time in a row.

"I'm thrilled to be back with my Billboard family," she said in a statement to Billboard. "I love being part of an event that celebrates our greatest artists and entertains our fans. This a night of music that you won't want to miss!"

This year's show will take place April 29 at the MGM Grand Gardens Arena in Las Vegas. The event is broadcast live on NBC.

USA TODAY has reached out to Clarkson's rep for comment.

Clarkson kicked off the latest season of "The Voice" Monday night with rookie coach Nick Jonas and returning coaches Blake Shelton and John Legend.

Jonas sure knew how to make an entrance, smoothly paragliding into the Season 18 Blind Auditions, James Bond-style.

"That’s a bit dramatic," Clarkson, who is the reigning champion, said of the entrance. Shelton added, "This is going to be a long season."

Clarkson got into a tuff with Legend during the episode while vying for contestant Nelson Cade III, who said Stevie Wonder was his idol.

"Stevie is a very good friend of mine. I’m just telling the truth, he sang at my wedding. If you happen to be on Team Legend, we could reunite you guys," Legend offered.

Clarkson added, "Oh lord … he’s just dropping the names."
