Kelly Price mourns the loss of her mother: ‘We need healing’

The Grammy-winning singer announced that Claudia Price-North passed away over the weekend
Grammy-nominated singer/songwriter, Kelly Price, 47, announced on Monday that her mother, Claudia Price-North, passed away over the weekend.
“It is with so many unexplainable emotions that I must make the acknowledgement that Sunday, Oct. 18, 2020 my mother, Claudia Price-North took her last breath and said goodbye to the world,” said Price in a statement.

“This is something I wasn’t prepared for, none of us were and I don’t know that anyone under any circumstances ever could be. Respectfully I ask for the sake of her husband, her sister, my sister and myself along with the rest of the family that we be given time to process this loss privately. We know that Earth has no sorrow that Heaven cannot heal. We need healing right now, so please keep my family in your prayers,” Price continued. Price-North was the musical director at a church in Queens when the gospel icon was a child. Price got her start in gospel music by singing in the church choir.
Price-North was a breast cancer survivor who was diagnosed in the late 90s. Her doctors gave her two months to live, but after chemotherapy and other treatments, she went into remission in 2006.
The cause of her death is currently unknown.
A funeral has not yet been set but more details about it will be released soon, according to a press release.

As theGrio reported Price’s grandfather, Jerome Norman Jr., who she described as her “heartbeat” and more like a parent than a grandparent, died on April 12 from COVID-19 complications at the age of 94.
