Kelly Ripa Got Super Honest About Why She Was Absent From 'Live' for Three Weeks

Kelly Ripa returned to Live With Kelly and Ryan on Monday after taking a break from the popular daytime TV talk show. However, many fans might not have noticed Kelly's absence after she prerecorded segments before she left.

When the former actress returned to Live she revealed to fellow Live cohost Ryan Seacrest that she was busy cheering on her youngest son Joaquin. As fans may know, Kelly has three kids with her husband, Mark Consuelos, including Joaquin, Lola and Michael.

"I spent my spring break at the Big Tens and the NCAA finals," Kelly told Ryan. She explained that Joaquin is a collegiate wrestler at the University of Michigan and he attended the NCAA Division 1 league conference.

Kelly went on to clarify that Joaquin didn't compete in the tournament because he's a freshman. She shared that although she loved being there for him, it brought her a sense of relief that he wasn't facing other collegiate athletes face on the mat. "It took years off my life watching these young men," she said on the ABC show.

Since getting accepted into the University of Michigan, Kelly has shared aspects of Joaquin's transition into college and how she has supported his longtime ambition. Back in September, the mom of three opened up about the different experience she and Mark had with Joaquin going to school of state.

"We became empty nesters. We took our youngest son to college, we dropped him off. It was hard. It was really hard," she said. "It's one of those things where, you can never be ready. We've done it before but the other two, they stayed in New York so we knew they were there."

By the looks of it, Kelly and Mark are still super close to Joaquin!
