Kelly Ripa is one supportive mom, and knows that being a young athlete isn't just about what the scoreboard says. the "Live With Kelly and Ryan" host shared a special moment with her son Joaquin Consuelos, who wrestles on his high school team in New York. Judging by the tone in Ripa's caption, it's clear that even though her son may take the physical abuse on the met during a wrestling match, she's feeling the mental anguish while up in the stands cheering him on.

The Good, The Bad, The Tampon

Ripa showed a photo of her 16-year-old son standing with a couple of his wrestling teammates, and he appeared to be sporting some sort of plugs in his nose from an injury sustained during his match.

"You win some, you lose some, and sometimes you get a tampon shoved up your nose," she wrote, which gives an explanation to what Joaquin had shoved up his nostrils.

Perhaps regardless of what happened during the wrestling match, and what happened to his nose, the most important thing is that Joaquin is still wearing a smile.

Supportive Parents

Both Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos are hugely supportive of Joaquin's wrestling career, perhaps sometimes to a fault. They are both regularly seen attending big wrestling meets to cheer their son on, and Mark made headlines several weeks back after getting so heated during a match that he stormed the mat.

After Joaquin's opponent ripped off his headgear during a struggle, Mark ran down and looked like he was about to get involved in the fight before other parents called him out for interfering. Kelly was also present at the incident but she kept her cool and stayed out of the spotlight.

¡MUCHA LUCHA!

It appears Joaquin was also destined for the wrestling life. During a recent throwback video shared by Kelly Ripa, a baby Joaquin can be seen jamming out to the theme song for "¡Mucha Lucha!" which was an animated show focused on Mexican professional wrestlers, called lucha libre.

"2004 the past predicts the future?Joaquin’s favorite song was the theme to ¡MUCHA LUCHA! He wanted to be a luchador. Let’s all go into the weekend like this!" she captioned the video of her son.
