Kemp re-elected, Thomas County sees over 10,000 early voters

Nov. 14—The Thomas County Board of Elections provided an election report summary on Wednesday morning, revealing the count for votes from the surrounding county, which is comprised of 20 precincts.

While currently uncertified, the summary of the general election revealed that over ten thousand votes were cast in advanced, nearly twice as many votes cast on election day.

In the race for US Senate, 10,476 voted for Republican candidate, Herschel Walker, while 6,431 voted for Democratic candidate, Senator Raphael Warnock (I).

Current Governor Brian Kemp received 11,053 votes during the Governor race, outpacing Democratic candidate, Stacey Abrams, who only received 6,136 votes.

In the race for Lieutenant Governor, Burt Jones received 10,735 votes, as opposed to his opponent, Democratic candidate Charlie Bailey, who only received 5,594 votes.

For Secretary of State, Republican candidate Brad Ratffensperger (I) received 11,028 votes, in comparison to Democratic candidate Ben Nguyen, who received 5,594 votes.

Chris Carr (I), the Republican candidate running for Attorney General, received 10,850 votes, beating Jennifer Jordan, his Democratic opponent, who received 6,087 votes.

For the race for Commissioner of Agriculture and Commissioner of Insurance, Republican candidates outperformed their Democratic opponents in the local election, Tyler Harper receiving 10,964 votes and John King (I) receiving 11,033 votes respectively.

For State School Superintendent, Republican candidate Richard Woods (I) received 11,034 votes in comparison to Democratic candidate Alisha Thomas Search who received 6,057 votes.

Republican Bruce Thompson received 10,786 votes in the race for Commissioner of Labor, compared to Democrat William "Will" Boddie, Jr., who received 5,984 votes.

In the race for US House of Representatives for District 2, Republican Chris West received 10,729 votes in comparison to Democrat Sanford Bishop (I), who received 6,409 votes.

Republican Dean Burke (I) ran for State Senate for District 11 unopposed, receiving 13,332 votes.

In the race for State House of Representatives for District 172, Republican Sam Watson ran unopposed, receiving 1,436 votes.

In a similar race for State House of Representatives in District 173, Republican Darlene Taylor (I), received 9,800 votes against her opponent, Democrat Keith L. Jenkins, who received 5,658 votes.

Democrat Jeremy G. Rich ran unopposed in the race for County Commissioner D1, receiving 1,249 votes.

Similarly, Republican Ken Hickey (I) and Donnie L. Baggett (I), alongside Democrat Phillip V. Brown (I), ran unopposed in their respective runs for County Commissioner in D3, D5 and D7.

Running for Board of Education in D5, Republican Leah D. Smith (I) received 987 votes against Democrat Aaron J. Williams, who received 399 votes.

For races for Board of Education in D1, D3 and D7 respectively, Republican Joy West, Ken Harper and Ed Hopper all ran unopposed.

For the Constitutional Amendment #1, which would suspend compensation for public officials wile the individual is suspended from office for a felony indictment, 14,337 votes were for "Yes" and 2,248 voted "No."

For the Constitutional Amendment #2, which would authorize local governments to grant tax relief to properties that are damaged due to a disaster and located within a declared disaster area,15,212 votes were for "Yes" and 1,539 were for "No."

In regard to the Statewide Referendum A, which would exempt timber equipment owned by timber producers from property taxes, 10,276 voters answered "Yes" and 6,149 selected "No."

For the Statewide Referendum B, which would expand equipment tax exemption and produce to include those owned by merged family farms, votes continued with the agreeable trend with 12,314 votes for "Yes" and 4,153 for "No."

For the local special election for the Coolidge City Council, At-Large, Missy Harper Johnson received 92 votes, Rickie Mullins received 55, John D. Blaha and Michaela Hicks received 37 votes, and Chad Ryan Mitchell received 27 votes.
