Kenadee Wayt follows mom's footsteps, becomes a Mount Union track national champion
BIRMINGHAM, ALABAMA — In her seventh race of the weekend, Mount Union's Kenadee Wayt became a national champion.
Wayt won the women's 200-meter dash at the NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships on Saturday. She broke her own school record with a time of 24.31 seconds.
Wayt's first title comes 18 years after her mother Heather O'Shea-Wayt became a two-time national champion for Mount Union. O'Shea-Wayt won outdoor national titles in the 800 and as a member of the Purple Raiders' 1,600 relay team.
A four-time All-American this weekend, Wayt also finished third in the 400, fourth in the 60 and fifth as a member of Mount Union's 1,600 relay. The relay of Wayt, Madison Miles, Mary Mason and Kennady Gibbins ran a school-record 3:48.30.

Miles joined Wayt as an All-American in the 400. She came in seventh.
The women's team finished fifth overall. It is the best finish in program history.
The Mount Union men's 1,600 relay finished second at the national meet. The team of Jared Storm, Matt McBride, Justin Knoch and Tyler Gill ran a school-record 3:12.05.
Storm also finished sixth and McBride came in eighth in the 400. Both earned All-American honors.
Walsh's Zach Kreft, Dominic Nutter are All-Americans
VIRGINIA BEACH — Walsh's Zach Kreft and Dominic Nutter had All-American finishes at this weekend's NCAA Division II Indoor Track and Field Championships.
Kreft finished fourth in the 3,000 in 8:02.34 and fourth in the 5,000 in 14:01.37. Nutter came in sixth in the weight throw with a throw of 67 feet, 0.75 inches.
