Kendall Co. Reopening: Spike In Coronavirus Positivity Rate

KENDALL COUNTY, IL — As coronavirus numbers in the state continue to move in the wrong direction, Illinois' North Central region is also seeing a spike in its positivity rate. The Illinois Department of Public Health reports that the region currently has a positivity rate of 6.9 percent, which has increased from 5.2 percent in the past 10 days.

As of Monday, Region 2 is seeing seven consecutive days of positivity increase, putting the region at a warning level for this metric. If this continues, the region could see new mitigations like the ones that were imposed on the Will-Kankakee region.

Any region that sustains an 8 percent positivity rate for three days in a row or sees an increase in positivity rates and simultaneous decrease in hospital capacity will need to implement additional community mitigation interventions, the IDPH website states.

As of Saturday, there are a total of 2,485 positive COVID-19 cases in Kendall County with 1,941 in recovery and 28 deaths, the Kendall County Health Department reports. The county has a positivity rate of 6.5 percent as of Friday. There are 107 new cases per 100,000 people in Kendall County and this puts the county at a warning level for this metric. The target is 50 or less.
