Kendall Jenner Revives a Major ’00s It Bag
The early ’00s were a simpler time: everyone simply had to have a bedazzled Von Dutch hat, a Motorola Razr flip phone (which are coming back, by the way), and a Louis Vuitton x Stephen Sprouse bag. The American artist’s collaboration with the French fashion house—where he applied neon, graffiti-style lettering over Vuitton’s monogrammed bags—became something of a craze. Seemingly overnight, all the celebrities started wearing them, and getting your hands on one took desperate measures. (Think: that episode of Sex and the City where Samantha name-drops Lucy Liu to get a Birkin.) But, like all fads, it soon fizzled out, even if they still pop up on resale sites for diehard fans. Now, it seems Kendall Jenner is one of them.
The model, spotted in New York City last night, revived the It bag while giving it a very 2019 spin. Her style of choice was a tiny monogrammed pochette with hunter green graffiti overtop; a more subtle choice compared to some of the more electrifying oranges and greens that Sprouse used. (Remember his floral prints, too?) She styled it with an of-the-moment ensemble to update the bag, too, consisting of a leather jacket paired with leather pants, a fitted tee, and square-toe boots (a trending silhouette of the season). So, the next time you shell out for a designer It bag? Hold onto it even when it becomes passé—it’s simply bound to come back in the next decade.
