Jun. 17—Kenny Chesney finally has set a date to return to Pittsburgh, but it's not until next year.

The country star's Pittsburgh stop on his Here and Now Tour is set for June 11, 2022, at Heinz Field on the North Shore.

Chesney's previously announced Chillaxifacation Tour was delayed from last summer because of the covid pandemic. And a 2021 date also was postponed recently.

The new 19-date tour will kick off April 23 at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa and close in Foxboro, Mass., with two shows at Gillette Stadium on Aug. 26 and 27. The tour also includes stops in Philadelphia (June 18) and Chicago (June 25).

"When we hit pause on our 2020 tour, I never thought we would go much past the fall, let alone into 2021," Chesney wrote in a statement on his website about the tour.

"After a lot of work on a lot of people's parts, a lot of cooperation from the folks at the stadiums, the places we're coming and the teams we share those venues with, we're ready to announce the Here And Now 2022 Stadium Tour."

A complete lineup of supporting acts will be announced in the coming months, according to the statement.

All current ticket holders will remain in the seats they've already purchased. Refunds are available at the point of purchase for the next 30 days for those who bought from the primary ticket source.

In March, Chesney announced he was postponing his 2021 tour.

Chesney, a four-time Academy of Country Music Entertainer of the Year, last played in Pittsburgh on June 2, 2018, at Heinz Field.

There have been concerns at past Chesney concerts about the mountains of garbage left behind by concertgoers.
