Kenny Golladay says ‘I’m good’ despite hamstring injury designation

Kenny Golladay did not acknowledge he has a hamstring injury on Thursday, even though the Giants listed him as limited with a hamstring the past two days.

He said he’ll be available for Sunday’s game against his former team, the Detroit Lions, after being benched for the second half of last week’s win over the Houston Texans.

“It’s all good,” Golladay said Thursday. “Yeah, I practiced today. I’m good.”

Asked what he expects his role to be, Golladay said: “I’m ready for whatever.” He said “there were definitely some good memories,” from his four seasons in Detroit, but he has no special feelings about facing them.

“It’s just like a regular game to me,” he said. “I don’t really get too much involved with all that.”

Head coach Brian Daboll said before practice that Golladay would receive limited work but “maybe more” depending on how he felt.

Daboll was asked if Golladay and rookie receiver Wan’Dale Robinson (hamstring) had been injured in last Sunday’s game against the Houston Texans or during Wednesday’s practice, when they first showed up on the report.

“We went out [Wednesday], we ran around a little bit, and they just tightened it up stretching a bunch,” Daboll said. “So we put them on the injury report and kept stretching the hamstring out.”

Golladay said he’s had a “pretty solid” week of practice. He hasn’t changed his process. And he’s eager to put his drop(s) against Houston in the rear view mirror.

“Yeah, you always want to go out there and make up for the mistakes you had last time,” he said.

Robinson’s status for Sunday’s game is in jeopardy. The starting three receivers at the moment project as Darius Slayton, Isaiah Hodgins and Richie James in the slot.

It’s unclear how much Golladay will factor, if at all, depending on Daboll’s decision.

TAILS NEVER FAILS

Daniel Jones always calls tails. The Giants QB makes the call for every road coin toss, and he’s a tails guy. He said he’s always been one. He joked Thursday that it’s the “underdog” call compared to the more traditional heads. His joke, obviously, is that it’s 50-50 regardless.

Indeed, Jones has had a 50% success rate so far this season in four road games. He won the tosses against the Packers in London and the Seahawks; he lost in Tennessee and Jacksonville. His teammates like Jones’ against-the-grain style, though.

Receiver David Sills said he’s a tails guy, too. And when Dexter Lawrence was asked his preference, he chose tails “because that’s what Daniel calls.” Tails it is.

A GOOD CAUSE

Giants captains Julian Love and Graham Gano are promoting MetLife’s ‘Inside the Huddle’ initiative, an online auction running through Nov. 29 to raise money for at-risk youth. The auction offers one-of-a-kind experiences and authentic merchandise to support the NYPD Foundation’s Harlem Giants and Far Rockaway Giants, organizations dedicated to student success. MetLife will contribute $30,000 in matching funds.

“We have some cool stuff lined up,” Love said Thursday. “You can bid on a bunch of memorabilia, but you can also bid on a game night with me here. We can play ping pong, corn hole — I call it ‘bags,’ a Chicago thing, I don’t know — I’m undefeated regardless. I think Graham is doing a kicking lesson, that’s kind of fun. It’s all going to a good cause.”

GIANTS INJURY REPORTDid not participate: TE Daniel Bellinger (eye), WR Robinson (hamstring), LG Josh Ezeudu (neck). Limited: DT Lawrence (back), edge Kayvon Thibodeaux (illness), WR Golladay (hamstring), S Dane Belton (clavicle), OL Evan Neal (knee), edge Jihad Ward (thumb).

Notes: Thibodeaux was back at practice and seems on track to play Sunday but said the illness he has is going around. Offensive lineman Nick Gates practiced but had a mask on in the locker room. Something to keep an eye on for the whole team… Shane Lemieux projects to possibly make his season debut on Sunday as the starting left guard if Ezeudu’s new injury keeps him sidelined. Lemieux is designated for return from injured reserve at the moment. He practiced in full Thursday … Belton was slow to get up from a special teams collision during the open part of practice with fellow safety Jason Pinnock. It’s unclear if Belton will be OK to play Sunday, or if he’d last the entire game if he did … It does not appear Landon Collins will be getting a significant shot to play meaningful linebacker snaps anytime soon. He was inactive last Sunday. New safety Terrell Burgess could begin to factor in sooner than expected … edge rusher Azeez Ojulari (calf, IR) looked good running on the back field Thursday. It’s possible he could return on Thanksgiving Day in Dallas, but the short week might keep him sidelined and extra week. It will be a wait and see situation … Neal is not playing Sunday, and it might be smart to hold him out Thanksgiving, too, to gain an extra 10 days of healing before his return. Daboll said Neal is “moving around a little bit. Probably still has a bit to go.”

LIONS INJURY REPORTDid not participate: C Frank Ragnow (foot), WR Trinity Benson (knee), DL Josh Pascal (knee). Limited: WR Josh Reynolds (back), S DeShon Elliott (concussion protocol), DL Charles Harris (groin). Full: RB Jamaal Williams (illness), RB D’Andre Swift (ankle/shoulder), T Taylor Decker (resting veteran), CB Chase Lucas (ankle), S Ifeatu Melifonwu (ankle), T Matt Nelson (calf), LB Malcolm Rodriguez (elbow).
