Kent Firefighter Association's annual Polar Plunge set for Friday

Kent Firefighters Association Local 721's annual Polar Plunge will mark its 10th anniversary on Friday.

The event, a fundraiser for the Don Beckett Memorial Scholarship Fund benefitting Theodore Roosevelt High School seniors, will be at the Lakehouse Kitchen and Bar, 7508 state Route 43 in Twin Lakes from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m.

A donation is requested to participate.

Beckett, a Kent firefighter, was active in the community and had children in the Kent schools. He started the scholarship and after his death from throat cancer in 2011, the Polar Plunge was inaugurated to provide funding.
