Kent police say they are investigating after it was discovered Thursday morning that a Dodge Street home had been struck by bullets during the night.

In a written statement, Police Chief Nicholas Shearer said officers responded to a report of shots heard in area at about 2:45 a.m. Officers checked the area and spoke to some residents, but were unable to immediately find anything.

At about 8:20 a.m., however, police responded again and found that a house in Dodge Street's 300 block had been struck by multiple bullets.

"Officers were able to verify that there were in fact shots fired last night in this area and the house was struck," Shearer wrote. "At this time, we are not aware of any victims who were shot."

Shearer said the police department's detective bureau is investigating the incident.
