Kent State women's basketball goes for third consecutive MAC win at Miami

The game: Kent State vs. Miami, 7 p.m. Wednesday at the M.A.C. Center.

Records: Kent State is 10-3 overall and 2-0 in the MAC after a 60-44 win at Ohio on Saturday. Miami (5-10, 0-2) lost to Akron 77-66 on Saturday.

The coaches: Todd Starkey is 111-80 in his 7th season at Kent State and 276-175 overall. DeUnna Hendrix is 28-71 in four seasons at Miami and 153-164 in 11 seasons overall.

Series history: Kent State leads 51-46 and has won the last two meetings and six of the last seven. KSU swept the RedHawks 83-61 and 61-52 in 2021-22.

Kent State lineup: Projected starters are 5-11 Sr. Katie Shumate (11.5 points, 6.2 rebounds, 1.2 assists per game); 6-2 Gr. Lindsay Thall (11.7, 4.2, 1.5); 5-4 Jr. Casey Santoro (9.2, 2.5, 1.5); 5-7 Fr. Corynne Hauser (7.8, 2.1, 2.2), and 5-10 Gr. Hannah Young (5.6, 5.3, 0.8).

Miami lineup: Projected starters are 5-8 Soph. Ivy Wolfe (17.5 ppg, 3.5 rpg, 3.5 apg); 5-10 Soph. Maddi Cluse (15.5, 7.8, 2.7); 6-1 Jr. Sierra Morrow (8.0, 4.7, 0.5); 5-8 Sr. Peyton Scott (12.8, 4.2, 2.9), and 6-2 Sr. Amani Freeman (6.5, 4.1, 1.0).

Notes: Sydney Watkins, Katey Richason and Clare Chambers will see significant minutes off the bench for Miami. They are averaging a combined 9.7 points and 7.0 rebounds per game. … Cluse is a Nordonia High graduate. … Wolf is fourth in the MAC in points per game and leads the conference in shots attempted. She is shooting .387 on 3-pointers. … Cluse has a triple-double this season (18 points, 11 rebounds, 10 assists) against Bradley on Dec. 16. … Kent St. Is averaging 71.2 points per game and Miami is allowing 72.1. … The Flashes continue to lead the MAC in scoring defense (58.3).
