Kentucky coroner identifies student killed in crash that also injured several others
A 15-year-old Bell County student died in a crash Tuesday night that severely injured another student and resulted in others getting medical treatment, officials said.
Kaylie Inman, of Bell County, died in the incident, Bell County Chief Deputy Coroner Jason Steele said. She was a passenger in a vehicle involved in the crash.
Bell County Superintendent Tom Gambrel said in a statement district officials “were deeply saddened to learn of the tragic accident that claimed the life of a Bell County High School student and severely injured another.”
A Bell County High School Facebook post said the student who was severely injured was Allen Buell.
Gambrel said counselors would be available for students and school staff.
A Bell County Sheriff’s statement said a tractor trailer was hit by a passenger vehicle, which was then forced under the trailer after being rear ended by a pickup truck, sheriff’s officials said.
In addition to the death, three people were flown to the hospital. Three were also taken to Pineville Community Health Center for treatment of injuries, sheriff’s officials said.
Kentucky State Police said a 2012 Chevy pick-up truck driven by 18-year-old Silas Gingerich, of Jonesville, Virginia was traveling south on US25E and collided with a 2012 Mazda passenger car operated by 35-year-old Ashley Jordan of Pineville, Kentucky.
Jordan’s vehicle hit a third vehicle, a 2024 International Semi-Tractor trailer driven by 40-year-old Nabryan Keene of Clarksville, Indiana, according to police.
Multiple passengers in Jordan’s 2012 Mazda were flown from the scene for treatment, police said.
