Kentucky Derby contenders Taiba and Crown Pride had final breezes Wednesday morning on a fast track at Churchill Downs.

Taiba went three furlongs in 38.40 seconds for trainer Tim Yakteen. It was just the second workout for Taiba since winning the Grade 1 Santa Anita Derby on April 9.

Taiba also had a three-furlong breeze three days before the Santa Anita Derby.

“We had blinkers on him just to help keep him focused,” Yakteen said after Wednesday’s work. “He doesn’t need them in the afternoon, but it’s something that we’ve used in the morning.”

UAE Derby winner Crown Pride breezed four furlongs in 46.60 seconds. It was his fifth work at Churchill since arriving from Japan on March 30.
