Kentucky Derby Festival mini and Marathon: What roads are closed
The 2023 Kentucky Derby Festival mini amd Marathon are this Saturday, April 29, which means drivers might need to find different ways to get around Louisville.
The races start at 7 a.m. Saturday at Main and Brook streets, near Louisville Slugger Field, and end at Lynn Family Station. People participating in the mini will run (or walk) 13.1 miles and the people competing in the Marathon will run 26.2 miles. There is also a relay option of 26.2 miles divided between three to five people.
"All race participants will get to experience the sights of beautiful downtown Louisville, the historic Old Louisville neighborhood, Churchill Downs, and parts of the scenic Olmsted Park System, among other attractions as they run," the Kentucky Derby Festival website says.
Although many of the streets will close Saturday, Adams Street from Campbell Street to Cable Street will be off limits to drivers between 9 a.m. Friday and 4 p.m. Saturday.

Louisville Metro Police said there will be no parking along the race route between 10 p.m. Friday and 2 p.m. Saturday, along with restricting other streets to parking or stopping. Third Street from Broadway Street to Central Avenue will be closed starting at 10 p.m. Friday.
