Emergency services have been working at the scene after two military helicopters crashed on Wednesday night (29 March) in southwestern Kentucky during a routine training mission.

A statement from the US Army’s Fort Campbell confirmed the crash in a statement and added the status of the crew members was unknown.

The two HH-60 Blackhawk helicopters, part of the 101st Airborne Division, crashed around 10pm.

Kentucky governor Andy Beshear wrote on Twitter that “fatalities are expected” and added that police and emergency officials were responding.
