New Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear thanks educators at inauguration

Beshear, 42, follows in the footsteps of his father, Steve Beshear, whose two terms as governor preceded the single four-year term of Republican Gov. Matt Bevin. They are the first father-son duo to serve as governors in Kentucky history. The younger Beshear acknowledged Tuesday he wouldn't have made it to the state's highest office without teachers and their supporters, who vigorously opposed predecessor Matt Bevin's cuts to public education and pensions.
