Kentucky high school football roundup: St. X, Trinity, Male, Holy Cross, Fairdale, Central win in Week 9

Sophomore Mike Curry rushed for two touchdowns to lead the St. Xavier High School football team to a 38-6 victory at Butler on Friday.

Ranked No. 1 in Kentucky’s Class 6A, the Tigers (7-1) also got touchdown runs from Davis Yates, Don’tre Richardson and Thomas Andriole.

Curry’s second touchdown run, a 2-yarder, gave St. X a 38-0 lead with 3:58 left in the second quarter and started the mercy-rule running clock.

Yates led the Tigers with 56 yards on eight carries. Curry added 36 yards on seven rushes.

Butler (2-6) got a 32-yard touchdown pass from Kayden Baker to Tavion Jones in the fourth quarter.

The Shamrocks (5-4) rolled up 286 rushing yards to beat the visiting Dragons (6-2), ranked No. 1 in Missouri’s Class 4.

Quarterback Drew Allen led Trinity with 104 yards and a touchdown on 16 carries. Jeremiah Lynn (16 carries, 92 yards, two TDs) and Clinton Sansbury (20 carries, 90 yards) also had big games on the ground.

Allen completed 6 of 11 passes for 94 yards, including a 10-yard touchdown pass to Noah Meyers (five catches, 81 yards).

Woodford County 41, Collins 28

Andrew Nason and Preston Stacy combined for 303 rushing yards and five touchdowns to lead the Yellow Jackets (8-0) over the host Titans (6-2).

Nason carried nine times for 187 yards and two scores, and Stacy rushed for 126 yards and three touchdowns on 10 carries.

Nason’s 73-yard touchdown run with 7:29 remaining gave Woodford County a 35-28 lead. Stacy capped the scoring with a 44-yard touchdown run at the 6:26 mark.

Collins quarterback Kenyon Goodin carried 34 times for 161 yards and two touchdowns and completed 15 of 35 passes for 202 yards and two scores. Caleb Bailey had nine catches for 86 yards, and Darius Evans and Hunter Klusch caught touchdown passes.

Male 50, Fern Creek 0

Kolter Smith completed 11 of 14 passes for 229 yards and four touchdowns to lead the Bulldogs (5-3) over the visiting Tigers (3-6).

Lucas Cobler added 80 passing yards and two touchdowns passes and also rushed for a score as Male played two quarterbacks. Josh Fuller had four receptions for 145 yards and a touchdown, and Antonio Harris caught three touchdown passes.

Male’s defense posted its third shutout in its past four games.

Holy Cross 50, Fort Knox 7

Quarterback Chris Perry passed for 71 yards and two touchdowns and also rushed for two scores to lead the host Cougars (6-2) over the Eagles (3-5).

Perry completed 6 of 8 passes and also rushed for 42 yards on nine carries. Jamari Pennebaker (three carries, 85 yards) and Tyler Ballard (six carries, 82 yards) both had touchdown runs. Logan McClellan was the top receiver with three catches for 57 yards and a score.

Fort Knox’s Cam McDonald carried seven times for 96 yards and a touchdown.

Fairdale 49, Iroquois 0

Camiron Atkins rushed for 75 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Bulldogs (8-1) over the host Raiders (0-8).

Yanni Pearson and Lazarus Vance added touchdown runs for Fairdale.

Central 52, North Oldham 0

Cortez Stone carried 16 times for 159 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Yellow Jackets (5-4) over the Mustangs (4-5).

Central quarterback Xavier Brown completed 10 of 16 passes for 84 yards and also rushed for 80 yards and a score.

Central’s defense held North Oldham to 3 total yards of offense and posted its third straight shutout. Andre Jackson had a team-high seven tackles and returned an interception for a touchdown to give Central a 35-0 lead with 8:00 left in the third quarter.

Thursday’s game

Bryan Station 49, Oldham County 6

Jeremiah Mundy-Lloyd rushed for 101 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Defenders (5-3) over the host Colonels (0-8).

Oldham County quarterback Kingston Dugan passed for 202 yards and a touchdown but was sacked four times and threw three interceptions. Jaxon Elkins had three catches for 109 yards and a score.
