The Kentucky and Louisville football teams had to be separated following a skirmish on the sideline early in the first quarter of Saturday night’s rivalry game.

The back and forth happened after UK’s Vito Tisdale was driving Louisville quarterback Malik Cunningham out of bounds. Cunningham pulled on Tisdale’s jersey, and Tisdale gave an extra push at the end of the play, but there were no penalties called for that exchange. Still, the two teams came together, with coaches and officials trying to get in between the players to separate them.

The only penalty called as a result was a 15-yard unsportsmanlike conduct penalty on Kentucky’s Quandre Mosely, who shoved a Louisville player in the back on the perimeter of the scrum.

There were no ejections, and no immediate replays that showed any players throwing any punches.

Later in the drive, Tisdale wrapped up Cunningham in the backfield and nearly sacked up, and the U of L quarterback appeared to smack the UK defensive back in the helmet as the play ended. There were also no penalties called for that exchange.
