Straight off her National Anthem performance at the 149th Kentucky Derby at Churchill Downs, Grammy winner and Kentucky native Carly Pearce is releasing a new single featuring another music icon from the Bluegrass State.

The new track, titled "We Don't Fight Anymore," features multi-award-winning country star Chris Stapleton, who also hails from Kentucky. The song will be released on June 16.

In an Instagram post, Pearce explained why she feels the track will be relatable to her many fans.

"This song embodies a place that I think, if we are honest with ourselves, we've all felt at some point in a relationship," she wrote. "The distance that feels heartbreaking, yet you're also indifferent."

Pearce, who wrote the song with frequent collaborators Shane McAnally and Pete Good, said she hopes the song will touch her listeners.

"I've always been a writer who never wanted to shy away from the 'uncomfortable' moments in all of our lives, and this song feels too important not to share," she said in a statement.

Marking the first new music since her critically-acclaimed third studio album "29: Written In Stone," the single is an authentic display of Pearce's musical sensibilities and cements her place as a storyteller.

The 33-year-old country star from Taylor Mill, Kentucky said featuring fellow Kentuckian Stapleton on the track was "a dream come true."

In March at the KFC YUM Center while on tour with Blake Shelton, Pearce talked about her fondness of Stapleton and his striking performance of the "Star Spangled Banner" during Super Bowl LXII.

Pearce told the Courier Journal that Stapleton, an eight-time Grammy award winner and influence in her own musical career, was simply himself.

"He wasn't trying to be anything but authentic to himself and I think that really resonated with people," she said. "I think we all want to be real and write real music and that is an area where Kentucky artists really excel."

Soon after our interview, Pearce found herself front and center at the Churchill Downs on May 6 singing the National Anthem at the Kentucky Derby. A coincidence, probably not.

Now the two major Kentucky talents are performing together.

Pearce's new single, “We Don’t Fight Anymore,” featuring Chris Stapleton is available Friday, June 16.
