New-to-Kentucky restaurant chain bringing Rocky Mountain oysters, wings to Lexington

A new-to-Kentucky restaurant is coming to the Fayette Mall area and bringing a Western menu specialty area.

Golden Flame Hot Wings, based in Colorado, is coming to 141 Rojay Dr., next to Moe’s Southwest Grill, near the Cinemark Fayette Mall movie theatre.

It’s the spot that was Lexington’s original BurgerFi restaurant location; the gourmet burger chain left town earlier this year owing back taxes and unpaid rent to some locations.

The new restaurant, which will be the first location outside of Colorado, is expected to open this winter, according to Golden Flame’s website.

What is on the Golden Flame Hot Wings menu?

Golden Flame Hot Wings sells boneless or bone-in chicken wings with 19 specialty sauces, such as spicy lemon pepper, Chokh Di (a hot Thai chili), Volcanic (habanero buffalo), Colorado Fancy (smoked habanero), Mile Hi (Cajun style dry rub) and many more.

The Golden Flame menu also includes fresh-made fries, which also can be topped with wing sauces, as well as other sides including Mac & Cheese Wedges.

Another specialty on the menu: Rocky Mountain oysters. Look away now if you don’t want to read what this is ... it’s bull testicles. If you don’t feel up to a full half-pound order for $13.49 you can go with the “Dare Your Friends” option for $2.99 each.

Golden Flame Hot Wings also sells fried seafood, a chicken sandwich, a wrap and a salad. But the big draw here is obviously wings and lots of them. For game days, you can order up to 100, with up to 10 sauces.
