Kentucky tourist in critical condition after Monday morning shooting in Panama City Beach

PANAMA CITY BEACH — A tourist from Kentucky was in critical condition after being shot Monday morning on Panama City Beach.

According to a press release from the Panama City Beach Police Department, the incident occurred at about 1 a.m. on the beach behind the Shores of Panama, condos off Thomas Drive in Panama City Beach.

"On arrival, the officers found a Black male victim from Kentucky suffering from a gunshot wound to the torso," the release reads. "After the shooting, the suspect fled on foot."

The Panama City Beach Police Department noted the victim was transported to a local hospital, where he remained in critical condition as of about noon Monday.

The investigation remained ongoing, and more information will be released as it becomes available.
