Kentucky men's basketball ended a two-game losing streak Wednesday, as it went to Starkville, Mississippi, and walked away with a 71-68 victory over Mississippi State. The win was crucial: It put UK (17-9, 8-5 SEC) back into the NCAA Tournament in the latest projections.
A victory over No. 10 Tennessee (20-6, 9-4) would further enhance the Wildcats' tournament résumé. The Volunteers come to town fresh off an upset of top-ranked Alabama Wednesday night in Knoxville, Tennessee.
Kentucky hopes to be closer to full strength come Saturday afternoon. It has been without senior guards CJ Fredrick and Sahvir Wheeler the past two games because of injuries.

The Wildcats won the first meeting between the two teams this season on Jan. 14, shocking the then-No. 5 Volunteers 63-56 at Thompson-Boling Arena. UK now holds a 159-77 advantage in the all-time series.
John Calipari is 17-12 against Tennessee as Kentucky's coach. That's the most victories against the Wildcats in the Calipari era (dating to the 2009-10 season); Florida is next, with nine wins.
