Kern Public Health: 762 new coronavirus cases, 9 new deaths Tuesday

Sep. 6—Kern County Public Health reported 762 new coronavirus cases and nine new deaths Tuesday.

That brings the total number of cases reported in Kern County residents to 281,763 with 2,532 total deaths.

According to the state, 55 patients were hospitalized with COVID-19 in Kern County as of Friday, the most recent figure available, which is six more than Thursday's reported figure. The state data indicated eight patients were hospitalized in intensive care units as of Friday, which is the same as Thursday's figure.

Since Jan. 21, 72.24 percent of all cases have been reported in unvaccinated individuals and 83.33 percent of all hospitalizations have occurred among the unvaccinated.

Broken down by age, 52,301 people under the age of 18 have contracted COVID-19, followed by 159,940 people aged 18 to 49, 45,611 people aged 50 to 64 and 23,527 people 65 and older.
