Kevin Durant trade makes Phoenix Suns 'obvious' winner at NBA trade deadline

The reviews keep coming in for the Phoenix Suns' trade for Kevin Durant.

And they continue to be very positive overall.

Most lists of NBA winners and losers at the NBA trade deadline include the Suns as a big winner (or the big winner) because of their deal with the Brooklyn Nets.

Check out the praise the Suns are receiving from NBA writers about the trade in those stories:

DraftKings: Phoenix Suns going for a championship with Kevin Durant trade

Chinmay Vaidya writes: "The Suns managed to keep Ayton out of the Durant trade, which is ultimately going to be a win for them even if the big man is unhappy about it initially. Phoenix only parted with two starters in the deal and while Mikal Bridges is a nice piece, he’s not a star. The Suns are going for the championship under new ownership, and they weren’t shy about ponying up for one of the best players in the league. The Suns still have some draft capital available to them for future moves, although they’ll have to work on the fringes."

Fansided: Kevin Durant trade puts Suns in driver's seat in Western Conference

Michael Saenz writes: "The Suns add Durant to a core that is already quite good. The Suns now have a top 4 of KD, Booker, Deandre Ayton, and Chris Paul. Objectively, I’m not sure there’s a better top 4 than that in the Western Conference right now. This move should put them in the driver’s seat to be one of the favorites in the West heading into the playoffs. The big question for this team will revolve around health. Can this team remain healthy during the latter portion of the season and into the playoffs?"

CBS Sports: Suns 'obvious' NBA trade deadline winner after Kevin Durant deal

Colin Ward-Henniger writes: "Not sure there's ever been a more obvious trade deadline winner in the history of the NBA. Durant revitalizes a Suns team that hasn't been the same since its inauspicious Game 7 playoff exit at the hands of Luka Doncic and the Mavericks last season, and immediately turns them into the favorites to come out of the Western Conference. A foursome of Durant, Devin Booker, Chris Paul and Deandre Ayton is as formidable as any in the league, and even though the trade depleted their depth, they still have capable, experienced role players like Torrey Craig, Cam Payne, Damion Lee and Landry Shamet."

Yahoo Sports: Suns make a statement with Kevin Durant trade

Dan Devine writes: "Reasonable people can argue about whether this makes Phoenix the favorite to come out of the West, whether you’d pick the Suns over the Celtics or Bucks in a hypothetical Finals matchup, etc. What’s inarguable, though, is that nobody is going to be particularly excited about the prospect of dealing with Durant, Booker and Paul in a seven-game series. A month ago, the Suns were reeling. Not anymore."

The Ringer: Suns now team no one wants to face after trade for Kevin Durant

Michael Pina writes: "If they aren’t the favorite, they are the proverbial team nobody wants to face. Marginal upgrades made by the competition (Luke Kennard is a fascinating supplementary pickup for the Grizzlies) feel futile when you zoom out and consider Durant’s new situation. The West is once again a death march."

USA TODAY Sports: Kevin Durant trade vaults Suns to NBA title contender

Jeff Zillgitt writes: "Nearly 36 hours after assuming controlling interest in the Phoenix Suns, owner Mat Ishbia, the CEO and chairman of United Wholesale Mortgage, stunned the league, acquiring Kevin Durant from Brooklyn for Mikal Bridges, Cam Johnson, Jae Crowder and four first-round picks. When healthy, Durant, Devin Booker and Chris Paul form one of the NBA’s most unstoppable offenses. At 30-26 and in fifth place in the Western Conference, the addition of Durant vaults the Suns to title contender."

Sports Illustrated: Suns should be unequivocal favorites in West after Kevin Durant acquisition

Rohan Nadkarni writes: "Chris Paul was briefly rumored to be part of a package offered to the Nets in exchange for Kyrie Irving. The Nets turned it down, and now Paul gets to be teammates with Durant, anyway. This is a massive boost for Paul’s title chances. This is the best team he’s ever been on. Paul–Devin Booker–Durant is the best trio in the West, and the Suns should be the unequivocal favorites to come out of the conference. Imagine if CP3 were traded to Brooklyn and Durant asked out, anyway? He came close to being in no-man’s-land again; instead he surfaced postdeadline onto the most exciting team in the league. The Suns are expected to be active in the buyout market, as well. I’m bullish on Phoenix’s chances, even if I’ve been burned before."

Sporting News: Give Suns credit for making Kevin Durant trade, going all-in

Stephen Noh writes: "Durant is worth all of it. The Suns will get four playoff runs with him at a time when there has never been more parity in the league. This is the best chance that they will have for a championship, and they deserve credit for going all-in on that opportunity."

Clutch Points: Kevin Durant trade makes Suns biggest winner of NBA trade deadline

Guilherme Hiray Leal writes: "Durant brings championship experience, elite scoring, and efficiency. Alongside Devin Booker, Deandre Ayton and Chris Paul, Phoenix should have one of the best starting lineups in the NBA.Although the team did lose young pieces such as Bridges and Johnson, the chance of acquiring a player like Durant cannot be ignored. With an MVP-level player on the roster, the Suns can become the biggest threat not only in the West but in the entire league."
