Kevin Faulk, former LSU running back, elected to College Football Hall of Fame

Former LSU running back Kevin Faulk has been selected to the College Football Hall of Fame, the National Football Foundation announced on Monday.

Faulk is the SEC's all-time all-purpose yards leader and has the most career rushing yards in LSU history. He joins the 21 athletes and coaches inducted in the 2022 class which includes Georgia's Champ Bailey, Stanford's Andrew Luck and Texas Tech's Michael Crabtree.

The class was selected by a national ballot of 78 players and seven coaches from the Football Bowl Subdivision, 99 players and 33 coaches from the divisional ranks and the NFF Veterans Committee Candidates.

“This is an honor that wouldn’t be possible without my great teammates, coaches and everyone who helped me along the way. It’s a tremendous honor but for me, but it was a team effort. I’m so humbled and honored to be included among the great list of players and coaches in the Hall of Fame Class for 2022,” Faulk said in a school release.

By the time Faulk's career at LSU came to a close, he made three First-Team All SEC teams, set the Tigers all-time record in rushing touchdowns (46), all-purpose yards (6,833) and 100-yard rushing games (22).

Faulk played 13 seasons in the NFL, all with the New England Patriots. He won three Super Bowl titles and was elected to the Patriots Hall of Fame in 2016.

He returned to LSU as running backs coach for the 2020 and 2021 seasons, but was not retained following Brian Kelly's hiring.

Faulk is the 11th LSU player to make the College Football Hall of Fame, joining Gaynell "Gus" Tinsley, Ken Kavanaugh Sr., Abe Mickal, Doc Fenton, Tommy Casanova, Billy Cannon, Jerry Stovall, Charles Alexander, Bert Jones and Glenn Dorsey. Four former LSU coaches have also made the hall, Dana Bible, Biff Jones, Bernie Moore and Charles McClendon.

The 2022 class will be enshrined Dec. 6 at a site to be announced later.
