Kevin Graver Jr. wins modified feature at Grandview Speedway

Aug. 1—A few weeks away paid off in a big way for Kevin Graver Jr., who returned to Grandview Speedway to earn his first career modified win at the track in Bechtelsville Saturday.

Also racing to victories were Kyle Smith in the sportsman feature and Dylan Swinehart in the 620 crate sportsman feature.

In the 30-lap modified feature, a multi-car accident along the homestretch on the fifth lap knocked Jared Umbenhauer, Craig Von Dohren, Kevin Hirthler, Duane Howard and Darrin Schuler from the race.

On the restart, Graver, who had stepped away to regroup after struggling with various car issues, passed Jordan Henn to take the lead.

Doug Manmiller, despite receiving damage in the early accident, moved into second on the 24th lap, but was unable to catch Graver.

Henn finished third, followed by Mike Lisowski, Tim Buckwalter, Brad Arnold, Danny Bouc, Jeff Strunk, Brad Grim and Ryan Grim.

In the 25-lap sportsman feature, Smith earned his second straight victory after winning last week's rain-shortened event.

Smith took the lead on the 14th lap and held it the rest of the way. Kyle Lilick was second, followed by Brian Hirthler, Dylan Hoch and Mark Kemmerer.

In the 25-lap 602 crate sportsman feature, Swinehart took the lead when Hoch suffered a flat tire on the sixth lap that brought out a yellow and went on to his first victory in the division.

Jimmy Leiby finished second, followed by Ryan Grim, Smith and Decker Swinehart.
