The Jonas Brothers are ready to debut new music and hit the road in 2023.

“It’s been four years since we released music, so it's time again, and we're ready,” Kevin Jonas told The Arizona Republic on Feb. 2.

Four years ago, Kevin, Joe and Nick released their first record since mending their relationships and reuniting as a band. Since 2019’s “Happiness Begins,” they have welcomed three new children — Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner have two daughters, Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra Jonas share a daughter together and Kevin and Danielle Jonas' daughters were born in 2014 and 2016 — and released a handful of tracks.

Now, the brothers are preparing fans for their upcoming sixth studio album, which will be released May 5. The influence of the 1970s music they grew up listening to, including the Bee Gees and the band America, will shine through in a record that’s simply called “The Album.”

‘The Album’ is ‘the best body of work … we’ve ever put together’

If “Happiness Begins” was about the three brothers coming back together to celebrate whom they’ve become and the love they’ve found since their 2013 breakup, “The Album” seems as if it will commemorate how they have arrived at similar stages in their lives.

“The album is special,” Kevin Jonas said. “I think it's the most connected piece of tissue we've had where we're all in the same place. We're all girl dads now, which is really crazy.

“It's the best body of work, in my opinion, we've ever put together. It's unlike anything we've done.”

With “Happiness Begins,” Joe and Nick had “found their people,” Kevin Jonas said.

“And now we're finding each other again in the same place with the kids. And so it's weird. We kind of go through these cycles of life where I think we need to live life to then write about it. And I think that's where we're at currently with this project,” he said.

Jonas described the band’s upcoming music as being “grounded in what and who we are, which is just some guys from New Jersey that just want to make good music.” The sound is “Americana, ‘70s” and “feel-good,” he said.

“We're just ready for this whole year. We're ready to get going,” Kevin Jonas said.

Being inducted to the Hollywood Walk of Fame made Kevin Jonas emotional

In January, the Jonas Brothers’ cultural impact was cemented on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Their family, friends and past collaborators — not to mention a massive crowd of fans — were there to celebrate the accomplishment 18 years after the band was formed.

“It was really, really special. It was quite the day. It was emotional,” Kevin Jonas said. “Someone was like, ‘Don't cry getting the stars.' Like, I don't know how I'm not. I think it was because we were surrounded by our friends and family that really were there from the beginning.”

The speakers, who included OneRepublic’s Ryan Tedder and Jon Bellion, the Jonas Brothers’ main collaborator for “The Album,” could hardly get more than a few sentences out during the induction ceremony on Jan. 30 as fans who lined up along Hollywood Boulevard screamed their support.

“We owe it all to them. They are the ones that keep us going, keep us breathing,” Jonas said of their fans. “And, you know, it's just the beginning.”

What we know about the Jonas Brothers’ 2023 tour

Since reuniting, the Jonas Brothers embarked on the Happiness Begins tour in 2019-2020 and performed a range of hits during the Remember This tour over the past two years. They had a slate of shows scheduled in Las Vegas, performing three shows at Dolby Live at Park MGM on Feb. 17-19.

Jonas couldn’t reveal anything about a “The Album” tour but teased that he’s seen “a lot of shows” on “a very big Excel sheet.”

The brothers seemed to indicate during their Dolby Live performances that the upcoming tour will have more than 60 shows and start in August.

The way the brothers tour has changed over the years, Kevin Jonas said.

“There are so many cities I've been to that I've only seen the inside of an airport and the venue or literally don't even know what something else looks like,” he said. “So we really try to make an effort now, (but) in our younger years, that was definitely the way it was. But now it's, like, after the show we want to go out and we want to go experience the culture, the people and the environment.”

He added, “My kids, we like to have them explore and see different cities as much as we possibly can. And so, you know, getting to find cool kids' museums or cool restaurants, it's nice.”

What songs will be on the Jonas Brothers’ ‘The Album’?

The brothers have teased some of their songs on social media and in interviews, but the track list has not been released in its entirety.

Their first single, “Wings,” will debut Feb 24. In a January interview with Variety, Joe Jonas named that tune as his favorite, alongside “Montana Sky.”

Kevin Jonas revealed to Variety that “Vacation Eyes,” a song about how he and Danielle met, is his favorite from the record. Nick Jonas named “Little Bird,” a track that reflects on parenthood, and “a bit of a head-scratcher” called “Waffle House” as his top songs on “The Album.”
