House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) and other Republicans on May 9 discussed the discord among Republicans in the House of Representatives centered on Rep. Liz Cheney (Wyo.) and former president Donald Trump. McCarthy for the first time openly voiced support for Rep. Elise Stefanek (N.Y.) to take Cheney’s place as Republican conference chair.
