Key dates leading up to the 2022 election

The general election is Nov. 8, 2022, but there are other key dates related to upcoming elections, according to the Alabama secretary of state's website.

Jan. 28, 2022 — Candidates seeking nominations by a party primary must declare candidacy with their state or county party chairman by 5 p.m., 116 days before the election.

March 3, 2022 — County party chairpersons must certify names of primary candidates to the probate judge, 82 days before the election.

March 11, 2022 — Secretary of State must certify names of opposed candidates for federal or state offices, 74 days before the election.

May 24, 2022 — Primary election

June 21, 2022 — Primary runoff

Nov. 8, 2022 — General election
