Keys to the game: Jaguars vs. Titans

The Tennessee Titans may be 1-0 heading into Sunday’s matchup with the division rival Jacksonville Jaguars, but put plainly, the way they pulled out the 16-14 win over the Denver Broncos was sloppy.

There’s plenty of fixing to do as the team looks to remain undefeated in their home opener.

Here’s a look at four things the Titans must do to get the victory over the Jags.

Feed Derrick Henry

Good things happen when you give Derrick Henry the ball… period. This especially applies to the Jaguars, because, well, Henry has absolutely owned them in the past.

Henry rushed for 116 yards last week, and could post another performance of over 100 yards this week against Jacksonville.

Up the kicking game

Stephen Gostkowski may have made the try when he absolutely needed to in last week’s win, but he did miss three attempts and a PAT. The Titans have had problems at placekicker for quite some time now, and in tough games that come down to the wire, success at the position is more important than meets the eye.

Stop Gardner Minshew

Minshew is hot coming into this one, and the Titans will need to pressure him to prevent him from getting things going early on offense.

Tennessee had a strong showing on defense overall last week, but did falter at times. The Titans can’t do that against the Jaguars quarterback, who completed 19-of-20 passing attempts for 173 yards and three touchdowns in the team’s season opener.

Ignite the offense

The Titans offense came alive last year with Ryan Tannehill taking the snaps after being named the starting quarterback in Week 7, but we didn’t see that same spark last week. The Titans’ longest play in the passing game went for 23 yards, and longest play on the ground went for 13 yards.

They’ll need to get into rhythm and do more to pull out a solid win this week.
