Keyshia Cole’s life story will soon be coming to the small screen. Lifetime is set to release “Keyshia Cole: This Is My Story” later this month as a part of the network’s Black Music Month programming. The project was first announced in March, and now an official trailer has been released.

SoulBounce reported that Cole would serve as the executive producer in the initial biopic announcement. She will also play herself in the film, which marks her first time professionally acting.

In the biopic, viewers will follow the Grammy-nominated singer’s journey as a young girl. The movie will include scenes of Cole getting thrown out of her adoptive parents’ home and reuniting with her birthmother, Frankie Lons. Actor Debbi Morgan plays Lons. In the trailer, Cole mentions how she “wanted to do something to show her love” after Frankie passed.

“Playing the role of myself was a unique opportunity to re-live special moments in my life that also gave me a chance to process her loss in ways I did not expect,” Cole said. “I miss her every day, and even though she is not here, her presence was felt throughout this film.”

The network will premiere “Keyshia Cole: This is My Story” on June 24.
