KFC is launching a new Cheetos Sandwich and yes, we tried it

KFC and Cheetos announced today that they're collaborating to make one legendary dish. The Cheetos Sandwich, as it will officially be called, will make its debut on July 1st at KFC locations nationwide and be sold through the end of the month. That means you'll only have four short weeks to dig your claws into this "dangerously cheesy mashup."

The Cheetos Sandwich starts with your typical KFC fried chicken sandwich, but then is topped with mayo, Cheetos and a special Cheetos sauce.

AOL Lifestyle was able give it an early taste test and we have to say, it all comes together surprisingly well. The Cheetos sauce is like a liquified Cheeto, but in the best way. It's a bright orange cheese sauce that has the same texture and consistency as hot sauce.

"The sauce isn't too heavy and has just enough flavor from the Cheetos that it doesn't overpower the entire sandwich," one editor noted.

"I weirdly could eat a few of these," another added, reminiscing on how it reminded them of a sandwich they used to eat in college.

New York City residents will also have a chance to try the Cheetos Sandwich ahead of its release at an "All Orange Everything" pop-up party on Thursday, June 27 from 4 pm to 8 pm at the KFC on E. 14th street in Manhattan. The event will allow guests also try other exclusive mashups like Cheeto-fied Hot Wings, Loaded French Fries and a KFC Mac and Cheese Bowl for one night only.

This is Cheetos' second brand collaboration in the past few weeks. On June 6, the snack brand released a clothing and merchandise line with Forever 21 that features Cheetos printed swim trunks, bodysuits, hats, beach towels and more. It's currently available online and in-stores.
