Khloé Kardashian Debuts Platinum Hair With Dark Roots Ahead of Daughter True’s Birthday

The 34-year-old mom revealed that she felt like her former icy-white hue was washing her out unless she had a spray tan.

Much like her sisters Kim and Kylie, Khloé Kardashian is a color chameleon when it comes to her hair. Most recently, the 34-year-old multi-hyphenate has been sporting an icy-white platinum shade reminiscent of the Nordic white hair-color trend we've seen all over Instagram. But it seems the Good American founder is already over the full-blown platinum beat and wants to be closer to her former color.

Kardashian took to her Instagram Stories over the weekend to tell fans about the reason for her hair-color change. "It was so white and I felt like if I didn't have a spray tan, I didn't look fabulous all the time," she said. She added that she loves having a little darkness woven throughout so that it appears more natural and doesn't wash her out. She then thanked her longtime colorist, Tracey Cunningham, for bringing her back from the platinum life.

Cunningham also posted about the subtle hair-color switch on her own Instagram and shared what she did to take her client a little darker. She explained that she used a combination of Redken's Shades EQ and Olaplex to create lowlights underneath the crown of Khlo's hair and keep it healthy and hydrated at the same time. "Khloe is so realistic and patient, now you can see her natural color woven in on top," explained Cunningham.

For anyone looking to take their platinum down a notch, this is a great option to consider as it will still leave your strands sunny and bright, but save you from looking washed out or struggling with the perennial upkeep.

As for what hair color Kardashian will experiment with next, we'll just have to wait and see, but we're low-key dying for a dark brunette moment. It'd certainly be the first for the star since the early aughts when Keeping Up had just started.
