A Naperville-based mobile pet food business opened a brick-and-mortar store this week in the Ogden Avenue corridor, one of several recent developments on Naperville’s business front.

Three months after Pet Wants franchise owner Jaclynn Berna and her husband, Evan, began offering fresh pet kibble for dogs and cats via free delivery, the couple has set up shop in the Twin Centers strip mall at 630 E. Ogden Ave.

Jaclyn Berna said free delivery will continue throughout southern DuPage, Will and Kane counties.

The business has been steadily growing since they started in early February, she said, and they’ve exceeded sales expectations each month.

“Word-of-mouth has helped a ton,” Berna said.

What’s different about the Pet Wants franchise, she said, is the freshness of kibble, which is produced in Cincinnati, Ohio, and in franchisees’ hands within two days of it being made.

Besides dry kibble, the store will sell the company’s anti-itch sprays, healing salves and natural dog treats like jerky, grain-free biscuits, dried chicken hearts or minnows, and Chilean blue sea mussel.

Berna said they also plan to offer other pet-related items.

Plans are in the works to create a grooming space behind the retail operation, but that likely won’t happen until winter, she said.

In the interim, Berna is partnering with a dog trainer to offer classes in the vacant space.

Two Bostons adds new location

Two Bostons celebrated the opening of its seventh store in the independent pet boutique’s chain with a Naperville Area Chamber of Commerce ribbon-cutting event at 1239 Naper Blvd.

The location in the Market Meadows Shopping Center marks the business’ third location in Naperville.

Two Bostons has a store in downtown Naperville at 103 W. Jefferson Ave. and in the Naperville Springbrook center at 2523 W. 75th St. Their other four stores are in Burr Ridge, Geneva, Glen Ellyn and Wheaton.

Owners Andy and AdreAnne Tesene opened their first store 17 years ago in downtown Naperville.

A grand opening is planned for 9 a.m. Saturday, June 24, during which customers can play games, win prizes, take photos at a selfie station and get free treats for their pets.
