Kicker Noah Ruggles to use extra year of eligibility and return to Ohio State for 2022 season
The man who made the field goal to give Ohio State a Rose Bowl championship is coming back for one more year.
Noah Ruggles, who transferred in from North Carolina, had one of the most prolific years for a kicker in Buckeye football history. And he’s not done yet. Ruggles made 20 field goals of 21 attempted and connected on all 74 extra-point attempts. His 134 points scored was second only Ohio State quarterback and Heisman finalist, C.J. Stroud.
Ruggles filled a void after senior Blake Haubeil graduated and freshman Jake Seibert struggled in 2020. Ruggles found himself on the outside looking in at UNC and decided to enter the transfer portal before choosing to land in Columbus. And Buckeye fans everywhere are glad he did.

Ruggles will be taking advantage of the extra year of eligibility granted by the NCAA due to the global pandemic. The kicker was named a first-team All-American by ESPN and was second-team All-Big Ten.
