Tailgate party at Jockey Club

The preseason is behind us now, and football season is officially getting started. The New England Patriots are kicking off their regular 2023 season by hosting the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday, Sept. 10, at 4:25 p.m. at Gillette Stadium. They’ll also be honoring former Patriots QB Tom Brady with a special ceremony. You don’t have to go to Foxboro if you want to tailgate though; you can do that at The Jockey Club, 115 New State Highway, Raynham. They’ll be hosting a tailgate party on Sunday at 3 p.m., in the JC tent. They’ll be hosting other Sunday tailgate parties throughout the season as well. The game will be shown on TVs, and there will be cornhole boards, giveaways, and more. Food specials for the party are $5. Choose from: the pub burger, with onion rings, cheese, pub sauce, and chips; sausage, pepper and onions served with chips; the pub chicken sandwich, with Nashville-style chicken, coleslaw, pickles, and chips; and the Kanty Klub dog, served with grain mustard and chips. New flavor at Dough Licious Pizza

This month, things are getting cheesy at Dough Licious Pizza, 539 Berkley St., Berkley. September’s flavor is “Cheesy Chicken”: with a cream cheese base, pizza cheese, cheddar cheese, grilled chicken, onions, bacon, olive oil, basil, and — surprise! — a sprinkle of vanilla.

Gyro poutine at Poutine Peddlers

There’s a new special over at Poutine Peddlers, 239 Broadway, Taunton. Try their new gyro poutine, with crispy fries, cheese curds, housemade gravy, seasoned gyro meat, lettuce, cucumber garlic Tzatziki, and a dash of pickled red onions.

Sea salt caramel truffle at Tom & Jimmy’s

In ice cream news, there’s a sweet and savory option. Sea salt caramel truffle is in stock at all three Tom & Jimmy’s Ice Cream locations. Visit them at 337 Winthrop St., Taunton; 109 W. Grove St., Middleboro; and 235 N. Main St., West Bridgewater.

Apple crisp and pumpkin frappes at Seafood & Cones

It might be hot outside, but you can still get a taste of fall at Seafood & Cones, 77 Broadway, Raynham. Try an apple crisp or pumpkin frappe as a cool, sweet treat.

Boston Tavern special for Jimmy Buffett

Over at Boston Tavern, 58 E. Grove St., Middleboro, they’ve got a special in honor of the late Jimmy Buffett. For the rest of September, they’ll be offering $6 margaritas.
